Microcontroller Introduction

This page is for students  and others interested in using atmel AVR microcontrollers in projects, especially senior design projects.

The atmel microcontroller is very popular with students and hobbyists, for good reason: it is cheap, powerful and can be easily programmed using C. With the internal oscillator it requires no external parts to run, and it can be programmed using a leftover parallel port printer cable, which can be found or purchased cheaply.

Of the many possible ways to write software and program the AVR chips, these pages will concern themselves with the Codevision C compiler and various ISP programmers and the dontronics DT-006 parallel port programmer.

Use the tabs above to find the information you're after.
